Join our entertaining and easy-going road trip from Prague to Munich. We travel through the picturesque Old Town of Regensburg, visit the most famous castle in the Czech Republic – the Karlstejn Castle, and taste the original Pilsner beer in Pilsen. We’ll help you discover two countries and take you to places you’d never make it to in just one day.

Our knowledgeable local tour leaders take a small group, maximum of 8 people, for a fun-filled 10-hour road trip from Prague to Munich (click here to book this tour the other way – from Munich to Prague). You will learn about the history, culture, and most importantly the people of both the Czech Republic and Germany.

Start your day by taking a stroll in the cute little town of Karlstejn, where you can see one of the best examples of a gothic style castle – the Karlstejn Castle. It is the former palace of the most famous king of Bohemia and the Holy Roman Emperor, King Charles IV.

Then, by lunchtime, we arrive at Pilsen, the city famous for its original Pilsner beer. Sit down for a delicious meal (not included) and enjoy a cold pint of fresh Pilsner, before taking a walk in the picturesque Old Town of Pilsen and learning more about beer and its history at the Pilsen Beer Museum.

In the afternoon, learn the legends of the gorgeous UNESCO World Heritage Old Town of Regensburg and take a look at its famous St Peter’s Cathedral before heading off to Munich, the capital of Octoberfest.

"Much Better Alternative Than Train/ Plane "

I cannot recommend the Prague to Munich trip enough. It certainly ‘kills 2 birds with 1 stone’ as you are travelling to your destination but stopping at beautiful locations along the way. Our guide, Pavlina, made the transfer fun and relaxing. Perfect personality for the role as tour guide. As there were only 3 of us on the journey, she went above and beyond to drop us at our individual hotels. Would love to use Side Trip Tours again in the future.

"Great alternative to the train"

Teresa and John were great. They explained the history, old and recent. I would do this again!

"Awesome tour!"

My friend and I really enjoyed our tour from Prague to Munich. We stopped at three different attractions along the way which were all very interesting, and our guide did an excellent job explaining the history and fun facts of each place. Our guide was very accommodating and friendly (and a fantastic driver), and we were never rushed and felt safe the whole time. I think it’s a great idea to enjoy the suburbs while on the way to Munich. Would highly recommend !

"Worthwhile history-filled road tour"

I recommend the one-way road tour for travelers who seek knowledge about European history and at the sane time cover different cities without going back to where you started. The tour guide (Tereza) has excellent knowledge about the historical connections among the cities of Prague, Munich, Salzburg and Vienna especially with respect to their ancient rulers and musical talents

"Great experience"

A wonderful way to travel between Prague and Munich. Vehicle was comfortable and pick up location easy to find. What made the tour particularly good was the guide. We were so impressed with her knowledge and manner. She was able to answer questions on so many subjects! Her driving was excellent. A very impressive person!!

"Great tour, highly recommend!"

Highly recommend it if you are travelling from Prague to Munich or the other way around! Great way to get from one city to another and see some things on the road+you will learn more about the country and the people. The guide was friendly and knew a lot of stuff, also funny and could answer all our questions. There were 6 of us in the group and this is perfect since there are not too many people. We went on another city tour with this tour operator as well and were very satisfied with it, so I highly recommend travelling with them! All the guides we had were kind, knowledgeable and funny.

Meeting Point

The tour starts in front of EMA Espresso Bar (Na Florenci street 1420/3, Prague). Look out for a minivan with Sidetrip logo. Our guide will meet you at the marked meeting point.
