    What we'll do

We’ll experience the authentic charm of the small Czech town of Litomyšl, far from the usual tourist crowds—where you’ll likely be among the only foreign visitors. Our visit begins at the town’s crown jewel, the UNESCO-listed Litomyšl Castle, one of the finest Italian-style Renaissance chateaux east of the Rhine, famous for its distinctive sgraffito decorations. Right next to the castle, music lovers can also see the birthplace of the renowned Czech composer Bedřich Smetana.

We’ll then continue to the former monastery gardens below the castle, offering peaceful views over the town’s rooftops from the old limestone ramparts. Afterward, we’ll descend to Litomyšl’s impressive main square that is one of the longest in the Czech Republic, lined with elegant façades, medieval arcades, and a lively mix of cafés, shops, museums, and galleries that form the vibrant heart of the old town.

    About Litomyšl

Located in eastern Bohemia, Litomyšl is a picturesque Czech town with a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. Its crown jewel is the magnificent Litomyšl Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the finest examples of Italian-style Renaissance architecture in Central Europe. Built in the 16th century and famous for its ornate sgraffito façades, the castle stands as a symbol of the town’s cultural importance. Litomyšl is also the birthplace of the celebrated Czech composer Bedřich Smetana, whose legacy continues to shape the town’s artistic spirit today.

Beyond the castle, Litomyšl charms visitors with its former monastery gardens, scenic viewpoints along the old city walls, and one of the longest historic main squares in the Czech Republic. The square is lined with elegant Baroque and Classicist façades, medieval arcades, cafés, shops, galleries, and museums, creating a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. With its blend of history, music, architecture, and small-town charm, Litomyšl offers a truly authentic Czech experience.

  • Stop 2: Olomouc

We will explore Olomouc’s picturesque Old Town, admiring its Astronomical Clock, stunning Baroque architecture, and the UNESCO-listed Holy Trinity Column.

    Olomouc

    What we'll do

We will explore the Old Town of Olomouc, where stunning Renaissance and Baroque architecture creates a truly picturesque setting. As we wander through the Upper and Lower Squares, we’ll admire the impressive Town Hall, featuring Olomouc’s unique Astronomical Clock. If we’re lucky, we might even witness the fascinating mechanical show the clock puts on.

The true crown jewel of Olomouc is the UNESCO-listed Holy Trinity Column, a magnificent 18th-century Baroque monument and the largest structure of its kind in the world. This intricately decorated column, adorned with religious sculptures and symbols, stands as a testament to faith and artistic mastery, making it one of the city's most iconic landmarks.

After soaking in the city’s historic charm and architectural treasures, we’ll take a well-deserved lunch break (not included) before continuing our journey to the next destination.

    About Olomouc

Nestled in the heart of the Czech Republic, Olomouc Old Town is a treasure trove of history and architectural wonders. With origins dating back to the 10th century, the city has played a pivotal role in Central European history, once serving as a seat of power and culture.

The town's rich history is reflected in the well-preserved medieval and Baroque architecture, where Gothic cathedrals, Renaissance palaces, and charming cobblestone streets create a timeless atmosphere.

The true centerpiece of Olomouc is the UNESCO-listed Holy Trinity Column, an awe-inspiring Baroque masterpiece from the early 18th century. Erected as a symbol of faith and resilience, it commemorates the city’s survival through plagues and wars, standing as one of the most impressive monuments of its kind.

Another must-see is the Astronomical Clock, a fascinating blend of artistry and history. Originally crafted in the 15th century, it was reconstructed in the 1950s in the Socialist Realism style and continues to captivate visitors with its intricate carvings and mesmerizing hourly show.
