Wow. Just wow. Perfect way to travel Prague to Salzburg

My husband and I had the most excellent tour of Cesky Krumlove on the way to Salzburg from Prague. Vera, our guide, was an excellent driver and so easy to spend the day with. Very knowledgeable about Cesky Krumlove, she walked us all over explaining the history and inviting us to stop and take photos whenever we wished and answered all our questions. After a nice lunch, we motored on to Salzburg as she expertly navigated some road closures and traffic. We were in our hotel easily before dinner. Highly, highly recommend Side Trip Tours and Vera, especially! Class act.

    What we'll do

During the tour we take a walk through the stunning Old Town of Český Krumlov. The narrow streets flanked by Renaissance style houses will take you back in time. The castle towering over the small town only adds to the fairytale-feel of Český Krumlov. We will also walk the grounds of the medieval castle and enjoy the views to the surrounding area from the top of the hill. The castle is famous not only for its own beauty and lovely gardens but also for bears that live in the moat. There will be time for a lunch stop in Český Krumlov (not included).

    About Český Krumlov

Český Krumlov town grows in medieval times around the castle. The castle was built on a strategic hill by the bend of the Vltava River where it controlled the fording of the river. Naturally this promoted trade and the city grew rich. The castle has been rebuilt several times through the centuries in the same location. Today you can follow the different architectural styles mixing together to form a unique complex. Until the 20th century Český Krumlov had a mostly German population. This changed after the Second World War, the German population was expelled and replaced by Czechs. Today the town has a population of 13 000 people.

Our second trip with Sidetrip and the high standard was maintained. Martin, our driver and guide on this occasion, was personable, interesting to talk to (and with an interesting background) and very knowledgeable. Along the way and at our one stop - Cezky Krumlov - he provided just the right amount of information, without overloading us, as well as local anecdotes. He was also a good driver, interestingly, with a manual transmission, mini van. All in all, a good vehicle, good information and a very good driver/guide. We would have no hesitancy in recommending Sidetrip, their staff and their administration. Thanks Martin for an enjoyable trip.

Superb experience!

Our guide Martin made this day a highlight of our trip. Martin drove us from Prague to Salzburg, with a stop for a couple of hours in Cesky Krumlov. The travel was easy and comfortable. Martin is very knowledgeable, interesting and a pleasure to be with. He shared all manner of historical, current and site-specific information, with a keen and much appreciated ability to read what was of interest to us. This was an absolutely delightful day. We highly recommend this tour and travel, and you will hit the jackpot if you are so lucky as to enjoy Martin as your guide!
