Wonderful Custom Tour Prague -> Passau

We needed to get to Passau in order to start a bike trip down the Danube. Sidetrip accommodated us with a wonderful trip through Czechia seeing beautiful sites that we wouldn't have known about or seen in any other way! Special thanks to Peter and all Sidetrip staff for creating a tour to meet our needs.

    What we'll do

During the tour we take a walk through the stunning Old Town of Český Krumlov. The narrow streets flanked by Renaissance style houses will take you back in time. The castle towering over the small town only adds to the fairytale-feel of Český Krumlov. We will also walk the grounds of the medieval castle and enjoy the views to the surrounding area from the top of the hill. The castle is famous not only for its own beauty and lovely gardens but also for bears that live in the moat. There will be time for a lunch stop in Český Krumlov (not included).

    About Český Krumlov

Český Krumlov town grows in medieval times around the castle. The castle was built on a strategic hill by the bend of the Vltava River where it controlled the fording of the river. Naturally this promoted trade and the city grew rich. The castle has been rebuilt several times through the centuries in the same location. Today you can follow the different architectural styles mixing together to form a unique complex. Until the 20th century Český Krumlov had a mostly German population. This changed after the Second World War, the German population was expelled and replaced by Czechs. Today the town has a population of 13 000 people.

Wonderful East Day!

We had a fantastic tour with Peter! He was very prompt picking us up at our hotel. Very friendly and conversational and did not mind when our party fell asleep en route to Cesky Krumlov. What an enchanting place! Peter gave us great history and information, walked with us for a bit and then allowed us family time before meeting up for lunch and departure to Salzburg. We are so happy we did a tour in the way to Salzburg and were happy we had Peter for our guide!

Personable and enthusiastic guide

Sarka picked us up at our hotel in Prague hotel at the time agreed upon, and we headed for Cesky Krumlov. Sarka was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and spoke excellent English. We talked about a variety of subjects, and she provided a wealth of very good background information about Czechoslovakia. She was very personable and made the drive a very pleasant experience. In Cesky Krumlov she provided a good walking tour and lead us to a very nice restaurant for lunch. The drive on to Salzburg was as pleasant as the morning drive from Prague, and she dropped us off at our hotel in the center of Salzburg. I would ask for her again on a future trip. Also, dealing with Sidetrip Tours by email was a very good experience. Our initial booking had to be cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sidetrip offered to refund our money but we decided to apply it to a future tour (described above) and are glad we did. We touched base with Sidetrip by email at key points regarding scheduling the new trip, and everything went very smoothly. I would definitely book with them again.
