Scenic Journey of a Lifetime: Prague to Vienna via Cesky Krumlov with Guide Extraordinaire George

We recently embarked on an unforgettable private tour from Prague to Vienna, with a delightful stop at the enchanting Cesky Krumlov. Our guide and driver, George, transformed what could have been a simple transfer into a journey filled with wonder and insights. George’s knowledge of the Czech countryside is vast and his passion for sharing its beauty and history is evident. His friendly demeanor and expertise in navigating the region made us feel immediately at ease. As we drove through picturesque landscapes, George shared fascinating stories and facts, making every mile an engaging experience. Cesky Krumlov was the highlight of our journey. George guided us through its cobblestone streets, pointing out hidden gems and providing context to the rich history that envelops the town. His ability to bring history to life with his storytelling was truly remarkable. Moreover, George’s recommendations for local cuisine and must-see spots were spot on, ensuring that our experience was not just a tour, but a cultural immersion. The comfort and convenience of the private van, combined with George’s professionalism and warmth, made our journey from Prague to Vienna more than just travel; it was a cultural, historical, and delightful experience we will cherish forever.

    What we'll do

During the tour we take a walk through the stunning Old Town of Český Krumlov. The narrow streets flanked by Renaissance style houses will take you back in time. The castle towering over the small town only adds to the fairytale-feel of Český Krumlov. We will also walk the grounds of the medieval castle and enjoy the views to the surrounding area from the top of the hill. The castle is famous not only for its own beauty and lovely gardens but also for bears that live in the moat. There will be time for a lunch stop in Český Krumlov (not included).

    About Český Krumlov

Český Krumlov town grows in medieval times around the castle. The castle was built on a strategic hill by the bend of the Vltava River where it controlled the fording of the river. Naturally this promoted trade and the city grew rich. The castle has been rebuilt several times through the centuries in the same location. Today you can follow the different architectural styles mixing together to form a unique complex. Until the 20th century Český Krumlov had a mostly German population. This changed after the Second World War, the German population was expelled and replaced by Czechs. Today the town has a population of 13 000 people.

Great way to see more than by train

We had a very nice trip with Vera from Prague to Cesky Krumlov and then on to Vienna. It gave us an opportunity to see some of the beautiful Czech and Austrian countryside, and Cesky is a wonderfully preserved medieval village. Vera was very friendly, professional, organized, and attentive. The booking and confirmation process was smooth and efficient and Sidetrip kept us well informed as the trip approached. We'll definitely do sidetrip again.
