    Kutna Hora

    What we'll do
We take a walk to admire Kutna Hora’s Old Town and its stunning Cathedral of St Barbara . This church is a truly magnificent mixture of Gothic and Baroque styles. Little out of the city center we will find the Sedlec Ossuary . You will have the chance to see for yourself the human bones that have been used in artful decoration of the chapel as you descend underground.

    About Kutna Hora
Kutna Hora city started to grow around a Cistercian monastery in the 12th century. The fame and wealth of the city came with silver mining a century later. Kutna Hora grew rapidly to be the second biggest city after Prague in the area. The prosperity of the medieval community can be seen in the churches that were built. The most famous of them is the Cathedral of St Barbara, the patron saint of miners.

In the outskirts of Kutna Hora is the chilling Sedlec Ossuary famous for its human bones. This is a Roman Catholic chapel in the cemetery of the Church of All Saints. In early 16 century mass graves were exhumed and more than 40 000 bones were used to decorate the chapel. This tradition of using skulls and bones, real or not, in decoration was widespread in late medieval Europe. The purpose was largely symbolic, a reminder of the inevitability of death.

    What we'll do
We will have a chance to walk around the beautiful and famous gardens surrounding the Palace during the tour. Lednice Palace and Gardens , the way we see them today, are designed in the 19th century for entertaining in the summer season. They palace is probably the best example of English Gothic style in Continental Europe. The Palace and Grounds, about 200h, are under UNESCO World Heritage protection due their unique architectural landscape.

    About Lednice
Lednice Palace and Grounds is a fabulous example of wealth the nobility had in Europe in the 19th century. The Lichtenstein family had huge landholdings in the area that they had gathered gradually over the centuries through conquering, marrying, and buying. It was their loyalty to the Habsburg dynasty that raised the Lichtensteins to great prominence in the Austria-Hungarian Empire.

The best way to go!

I had a fantastic experience on the Prague to Vienna One-Way Transfer Tour with our guide, Filip. From start to finish, Filip was a fountain of knowledge, sharing fascinating insights about the history and culture of the regions we passed through. The vehicle was comfortable and the itinerary was perfectly paced, making the journey not just a transfer, but a highlight of our trip. Filip’s professionalism and friendly demeanor made the long drive feel short, and his tips on what to do in Vienna were invaluable. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a convenient and enriching way to travel from Prague to Vienna.

Beautiful sight seeing with education - love it! Thank you Stepan

This is one of the best ways to experience more of Europe, particularly if you are traveling between Prague and Vienna. Of course, the romanticism via train is grand, but especially with a large party with the majority on the elderly side, the private tour is the way to go! You get a chance to see and experience smaller towns and highlights. It helps too with a thoughtful and informed tour guide like we had with Stepan! Thank you for not only driving safely but educating us along the way. We'll be requesting him again.
