Fun and interesting way to spend the travel day!
We had an awesome time on our trip from Kraków to Budapest with our guide, Erik. He was very open and willing to answer our (many) questions on Slovak food, culture, geography… you name it! The drive itself was stunning and made a fun highlight out of what has usually been a boring airport day.
Great guide and great trip
Our driver/guide Klara was great, super friendly and knowledgeable. The mountain scenery was amazing and we loved visiting the historic villages on the way- it was a great way to get from Krakow to Budapest. Much better than taking the train! Highly recommended.
A Travel Day that Became the Highlight of Our Trip to Central Europe
My childhood friend and I spent 7 days visiting 5 countries in early June, and to say our Sidetrip journey from Kraków to Budapest was one of the highlights of our entire trip is an understatement. Instead of taking the train, we spent the day exploring beautiful parts of Slovakia with our guide and driver, Levi. It turned what would have been a simple travel day into an incredible adventure, allowing us to see places we never would have discovered had we simply taken the train. We visited hidden gems including Oravský Podzámok, the UNESCO village of Vlkolínec, and the charming town of Banská Štiavnica. The scenery was stunning, and every stop felt thoughtfully chosen. What made the experience truly special was Levi. He was knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and genuinely passionate about sharing his region with us. Along the way, we had fascinating conversations about history, culture, politics, religion, and everyday life in Central Europe. It felt less like a transfer and more like spending the day with a local friend. He also gave us fantastic recommendations for restaurants, bars, and must-see attractions in his hometown of Budapest, which made the next part of our trip even more enjoyable. If you’re traveling in Central Europe, I highly recommend a tour with Sidetrip. It transformed a travel day into an unforgettable experience, introduced us to places we never would have seen otherwise, and gave us memories we’ll talk about for years to come. Yes! We have space for luggage, similar to common airline baggage allowances. There is no extra charge for luggage that meets these criteria:

Yes! With a maximum of 8 people in each group, our guide can make sure that the pace of the tour is suitable for everyone. Just note that the tour does include some walking at the stops.

If you cancel more than 48 hours before the tour, your booking is fully refunded*. If you cancel less than 48 hours before the tour or in the case of a no-show, no refund is issued.
