Join our fun and easy-going road trip from Vienna to Budapest. We discover the hidden gems of the Hungarian countryside, stopping to see the magnificent Eszterházy Palace in Fertőd (entrance is optional, not included) as well as small towns of Győr and Sopron. We’ll bring you to places you’d never visit in one day and help you get from Vienna to Budapest in the best possible way.

Our knowledgeable local tour guides take a small group, maximum of 15 people, for a fun-filled 10-hour road trip from Vienna to Budapest (click here to book this tour the other way – from Budapest to Vienna). You will learn about the history, culture, and most importantly the people of Hungary.

Start the day with a stroll around the scenic little town of Sopron to admire its gothic and baroque architecture. Then we head on to the Hungarian Versailles – the luxurious rococo masterpiece belonging to the Eszterházy family with its manicured gardens. Entrance to the palace is not included, but can be arranged for an extra fee.

For lunch, we'll stop in Győr and spend the afternoon strolling around and admiring the colourful baroque houses. The last stop in the late afternoon is the small gothic Tata Castle on the lakeside before making it to Budapest by the evening.

"A Great Adventure!"

I would highly recommend using this tour group. We took the tour from Vienna to Budapest and it was a great journey. Ildi was our guide for the day and we she was very informative regarding our destinations. She was also a wealth of information about general questions regarding Austria, Hungary, and Budapest.

"Comfortable Experience"

The car is comfortable but the sightseeing spots are not really attractive.

"Excellent day trip from Vienna to Budapest"

What a great way to travel between Vienna and Budapest! We got to see some very charming Hungarian towns, totally off the beaten track and unlikely that we would have visited on our own. Our guide Noemi was very knowledgeable and keen to show us all the sights at each stop. The driver too was courteous, the vehicle comfortable. A great trip - for just a couple of hours add on to the regular commute between the two cities you get to see some real hidden gems in the Hungarian country side.

"Fantastic experience"

If you are traveling around the Europe, this is the perfect way to move from one city to another. I was so happy to see some sites outside of the capital cities. The nice thing too is that you can use the time in the van as you like; you can sleep, read, stare at the passing fields, or talk with your fellow travelers. I am happy to say that it was also a great and easy way to meet some wonderful people from other places. I highly recommend this tour.

"It is worth"

With a small group you make stops on interesting points, learn new things, have a lunch and enjoy the time together. Our guide did a great job👍 she loves her job and this makes the trip much better...

"Exceeded my expectations"

I'm so glad I found this travel / tour! Not only did it provide transportation between the two cities, but it hit all the major "day trip" sites in between. Our tour leader/driver was full on energy and enthusiasm! Can't believe she keep her energy so high for all 10 hours of the tour! Very well designed itinerary.s. Great value too.

Meeting Point

The tour starts in front of Cafe Mozart (Albertinaplatz 2), next to the Tourist Information Center. Look out for a minivan with Sidetrip logo. Our guide will meet you at the marked meeting point.
